“Saturday Night Palsy”: Lessons from a Patient

“Saturday night palsy”, also known as “lovers’ paralysis”, is a neuropathy of the radial nerve, caused by extrinsic compression at certain point in its path along humerus, usually level spiral groove. This designation based on fact that this occurs, frequently, after excessive alcohol intake, thus resulting an incorrect position arm during sleep. fourth most common mononeuropathy worldwide, affecting about 2.97 per 100 000 men and 1.42 women. Paralysis nerve causes loss sensory and/or motor functions, depending where was injured. The following case refers to patient observed acute consult Primary Care Unit, waking up with his right-hand hanging. In report, deficit shown allowed authors infer location injury.
